ABOUT ME

I have worked at the University of Houston for nearly 13 years, serving first as the program manager and then as the director for the Office of Undergraduate Research. I am now the assistant dean of co-curricular programs for the Honors College, as well as the coordinator of the Honors ePortfolio program.

I also advised students in applying for nationally competitive scholarships for a decade—first at the University of Illinois at Chicago and then at the University of Houston. Recognizing how developing these applications can impact the intellectual and professional development of scholarship candidates, I felt compelled to bring this advice and direction to a larger cohort. As a result, I use ePortfolios as a tool to scale this advisement. Knowing how valuable it is for students to reflect upon their education and their academic path, I teach an ePortfolio class each semester on creating illustrative online academic and professional websites.

I am committed to student success. High-impact practices and experiential learning programs enable students to take ownership of their learning and make a difference in their field. For this reason, I have built a career around creating, enhancing, and assessing engagement programs to ensure students have the opportunities they need to enjoy fruitful academic and professional careers.
